If it wasn't for the cats...”

After a thousand years away, a human colony on a massive spaceship is on an interstellar mission to return home. They live in a peaceful society, preserving what they believed to be an approximation of the lives that their ancestors led on earth. It would be paradise... if it wasn't for the cats.

"If it wasn't for the cats..."

Before we begin, it should be noted that the following story contains a truly awful amount of grizzly deaths, way too many monsters, and quite a few unsavoury characters doing rather unsavoury things. However, this is counterpoised, somewhat, by copious references to the soothing subjects of physics, philosophy, and religion.

But, hey, If you're schizoid enough to read on, I should probably tell you that The World is, in fact, flat. You'd have to be nuts to proclaim that fact false. The World is also kinda round. After all, if you were feeling particularly peppy, you could hop on your bike and pedal around the whole bloody thing in a couple of days. It's a pretty cool trek, if you like that sort of thing. Most people don't, though, because it's a hell of a lot of stupid exercise - and that's also a damn fact.”

Outside of The World is, essentially, an infinite amount of emptiness. You can peer out of a veeuport and observe it, if you are so inclined.

It's mostly just streaks of white light though, so, why the hell bother?”
